I'm trying to recover deleted photos from my Fujifilm Camera on Mac?

Q: I used my SD card a few times and on my last school day I took some pictures with it in my fujifilm camera. I could see the pictures on the camera screen but when I tried to open the file on my laptop (via the SD card slot) it says I need to format the card. I know if I do this then all my photos will be erased so I'm hoping there's some other way to recover the photos from Fujifilm camera on Mac. Please help because I want to keep the photos on Mac of my last day. Thanks!
